About

All things joteria! This is a place for all queer (Jot@) latin@s/Xican@s/Chican@s.

Run by a fierce jota and a fierce joto.

This tumblr is anti-racist, anti-sizist, anti-ableist, anti-classist, anti-queer/trans*phobic, and generally an all inclusive space.

This is a people of color and Latin@/Chican@/Xican@ centric space. Allies are welcome but please respect the point of this space.

xQsi: A LGBTQ Latin@ Multimedia Publication

sqs-tec:

If you read LGBT news and information on the internet, then you need to be reading xQsi.

xQsi is a fabulous, long-standing ally of the trans* and gender variant community. They regularly publish articles and media incorporating every group in the alphabet soup that is our community, and strive to educate, advocate, and change the way we see ourselves in media.

This is a resource for Latin@ readers—many articles are in both English and Spanish—all across the globe. But no matter what background you come from, xQsi will have something interesting for you to read and tell your friends about. Amongst many things, they write about: news, opinions, entertainment, art, and community. Here in Chicago as well as in Los Angeles, xQsi is a crucial supporter and advocate of many LGBTQ nonprofits, organizations, and communities. SQS is lucky enough to have had our meetings reblogged by xQsi, in an endeavor to help community awareness and participation.

Below is their mission statement, but here at SQS we implore you to visit their webpage and follow them (facebook, Twitter, etc.) because they’re changing the way we think about LGBTQ news and media.

Continue to reblog this and mention xQsi to your followers—this is an important resource for everyone in the LGBTQ community.

Thank you!

xQsí Magazine was born like all things that matter: del Amor. We love our cultures and our communities, but often we find it difficult to love ourselves because we do not see ourselves reflected in books, in the news, or on TV.

Mainstream Latin@ media hides our true genders and sexualities. Queer media erases the importance of our unique ethnic and racial heritage. But through giving birth to xQsí, we unite them and make them one.

Therefore, the mission of xQsí Magazine is simple. We want to publish an LGBTQ Latin@ multimedia publication that reexamines identity, guides critical dialogue, and inspires political action through content that reflects the diversity and dignity of our community.

We believe in our community.  We have a vision for our community. We want to live in a world where LGBTQ Latin@s fully express their true voice and are acknowledged, embraced, and celebrated.

xQsí Magazine, entonces, is not just our magazine, but your magazine; This mission and vision is not just ours, but yours as well. Junt@s, we can make it reality!
